Le Monastère – Le Sanctuaire
Organize your next event in a unique location in the heart of the city centre: a splendid Gothic Revival style church built in 1864. The Sanctuary is the oldest part of the St Jax Centre, it is also the second oldest structure in the St. Catherine Street. It was built when the neighborhood was still mostly farmland outside the city limits of Montreal, at the dawn of a new era that would see St Jax become the heart of a neighborhood now known as from Golden Square Mile. The high wooden ceilings of the sanctuary are our greatest asset and would probably be nearly impossible to replicate today. The style is known as "Arts and Crafts", which was a bold new look at the time, reflecting the vibrancy of the new neighborhood. The evolution of the city center is then literally inscribed in the walls of the room, through the plaques and windows offered, each of which tells a story, with numerous reminders of the community's military affiliations. In addition to adding a quite particular and spectacular universe in itself, the space is perfectly suited to circus performances, aerial included, with the possibility of a central stage. With its 6,000 square feet, high wooden ceilings and stained glass windows, Le Sanctuaire adapts to all your needs: filming, concert, show, happy hour, etc. A lot of equipment is available on site: light, sound, furniture, live recording, and more. Data sheet available on request. Other services available on request: circus performances, bar and drinks service, cloakroom, caterer, live music, DJ, VJ, photographer…
